Arabian Chronicle: Hejaz and Nejd

Assalāmu'alaikum wa ramatullah

While South East Asia was in its Hindu-Buddhism period in the 7th century with the rise of Srivijaya empire, Arabian Peninsula witnessed the battles between Roman empire and the Persian empire. Both of the empires were competing with each other to get colonial lands just like British and France who were competing for influences in Arabia and Syria in the 18th century.

Only two regions were free from foreign invasion and influences which are the Hejaz and the Nejd. However, there were not like the Ghassanides or the Lakhmides who established monarchy system for their regions' administration. The Hejaz and Nejd only have confederation system where tribes cooperated among each other when they had something to deal with foreigners.

Each tribe was ruled by a Sheikh and they only managed their own affairs within their tribe. The Sheikhs would send one among them as a messenger to deal with foreigners if there were disputes among the confederation of tribes and foreign powers. They deal with everything through that way. In this sense, being in confederation does not mean that they were united like in today's centralized federation system. They only unite themselves when they have to deal with foreigners but when they were among themselves, there would be differences in their ideology, aspiration and others. Sometimes they mingle well among each other and sometimes they fought each other. This is some glance on what happened in Arabian Peninsula. Our ancestral land....

Nejd: Kindite Bedouines

The Kindites managed to establish their own power in Nejd region in the late of 5th century. They were Bedouine Arabs who were largely converted into Judaism. In the beginning, they were competing for the influence with the Lakhmides. Most of the Lakhmide Arabs at that time were baptized as Christians in Nestorian Catholic Church. The Kindites won and thus the tribe brought together the branches of the tribe from north into the south.

The Lakhmides then plead the help from the neighboring Ghassanides who were also Christians and they waged war with the Kindites. The Kindites has fallen to the knees of the Lakhmides. The Kingdom of Kindites tried to beg for help from the Byzantine empire in 529 M through their prince and a great poet, Imr al-Qays who took the role as an ambassador to the Roman empire there but to no avail. Emperor Justinian I did not take any action for the plea.

Hejaz: Holy Mecca

By ancient rites, we were from the Quraysh tribe because our clan belongs to the Hashemite clan. The Arabs are of many clans and tribes. I simply cannot understand why Malay brethren are generalizing us as rude people? Why do you have to bring up all of those racist notions in the Sīrah lessons despite of telling everyone about the sermon of noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w during the final pilgrimage in 'Arafat? I am not a pure Arab myself but in my vein there are also Northern Indian and Indochinese blood due to genetic crossing of our maternal lineage just like what happened to the Peranakan Chinese or the Portuguese speaking people in Malacca. Many of the Hashemite Arabs were married to native women when they spread themselves over the seas. I am calling myself an Arab because I am aware that my paternal grandfather's family belongs to a Hashemite clan and they are Arab diaspora. We just do not speak Arabic all the times but we can speak in it if we are forced, lol. By the way I am proud of our heritage. Proud does not mean that I am looking down on others in term of that annoying snobbish. Proud means I am just proud of our heritage just like the Singh were proud about their heritage. Just like the Rajputs who are proud of their heritage and culture. I am not proud like the notion of "chosen nation" or whatever it is. There is no such thing because we are not Jewish and I cannot understand why some South East Asians especially Malay speaking people are so fond of that "Black Banner" prophecies? That is not even part of our traditional Creed and is not even important as compared to Taqwa and Sincerity before Him.

Jurhumites

So, the holy city Mecca itself was governed by the Jurhumites which is a sub-branch of Qahtanite Arabs of South Arabia. These Jurhumites were the second descendants of the Southern Arabian tribe who managed to flee the breached Ma'arev Dam which caused great floods in Southern Arabia around 449, 450, 542, 548, and 570's where it was reported that around 50,000 people had to migrate from Southern Arabia (Yemen) to Syria, Northern Arabia and even to Iraq only in the 570s. The Jurhumites were not the descendants of Ishmael a.s so they are not the Ishmaelites. But there might be cross marriage among the Jurhumites with the Ishmaelites just the same like the Ishmaelites were also married to Hebrew Jewish tribes.

Ishmaelites

According to narrations of our elders when I was a little boy as I could still remember it until now, prophet Abraham a.s as according to our record visited the valley of Mecca few times and he was also involved in his son's wedding. Ishmael a.s. married twice with Jurhumite ladies. The first wife was divorced because his father does not like the lady. She was rude to her father in-law and that happened because prophet Abraham a.s did not attend the wedding as he was in the land of Cana'an up north. He married again for the second time. The second wife was a polite lady so prophet Abraham a.s approved her and asked Ishmael a.s to keep her forever.

The Ishmaelites were respected and deemed as noble by the people in Arabia. It happens due to the involvement of Abraham a.s and Ishmael a.s in the reconstruction of the cubicle monument which was build marked by Noah a.s. While being respected in Mecca for the role of their ancestors in the reconstruction of the Cubicle, but the Ishmaelites were also powerless. They hold no jurisdiction at all.

In this sense, I always feel weird when people were saying that Jerusalem is Muslims' first holy city. The first holy city for us is in Holy Mecca! Not in Jerusalem. The Jewish of Judah in Southern kingdom and ancient Israelites of Northern kingdom were the ones who were commanded to face the Jerusalem in their prayers. In the beginning of the revelations to prophet Muhammad s.a.w, the God the Highest commanded him to direct his face toward North because the cubicle building was tainted with chaotic pagan rites and impure practices. He cannot just simply step on the norms at that time or he would be in trouble while he was a poor guy and alone! The cubicle became a focus for worship by people around since it was known to the Noahides around the area.

The cubicle was a mark for the center of the Earth and above the heavens is the Bayt al-Ma'amor which is another sacred sanctuary for other creatures of the heavens, namely the angels (souls). Countless of them would pray in the sanctuary above there and later disappear and it happens everyday until the great doomsday where the universe disintegrate. The explanation is in the Fath al-Bari part 9 section 493 (Ibn Hajar quoting Ibn Jarir al-Tabari) and in the Ibn Katir Exegesis of the Quran. The sanctuary is also mentioned in Glorious Quran (Surah al-Tur 52:3-4). The location of the Bayt al-Ma'amor is not to be speculated because the heavens are not like the layers of skies understood by people around. There are many things which could not be understood with "Science" that fall under "Metaphysical" categories. We ordinary human-beings have no capability to understand everything so we refuse to speculate, we refuse to claim that we have knowledge about metaphysical matters and we refuse to claim that everything could be brought into laboratories.

Later, the Azdites moved out from Yemen because the flood of the Ma'arev affected them. Some of them who moved into the holy city, Mecca was Haritha bin Amr and his nickname is, Khuza'a. The Khuza'as fought the Jurhumites and they seized the power for their own in Mecca. The Ishmaelites in Mecca were also downgraded after those invaders won. Although downgraded but the branches of Ishmaelites through the offsprings of 'Adnan were far spread across the Hejaz and Nejd up to the edge of Iraq and down to Bahrain borders.

Quraish

Those Ishmaelites of the Holy Mecca were the offpring of Fihr bin Malik. His nickname is Quraish and that is how our larger tribe is known until today. The Arabic language that we use which is also the Standard Quranic Arabic is the language of this tribe. We do not speak in Arabic dialects though I can understand Tihamite Arabic (almost resembling the Egyptian Arabic) since we are born in the overseas and we never live in Arabia environment. Our grandfathers did not send our fathers abroad to Arabia for religious and cultural education no more since 18th century because they had no time to think about that. Some of them were very poor and they have to survive in a very harsh environment... Moving here and there.

During his lifetime, Quraish already lost everything and was downgraded although everybody knows that his family are Ishmaelites, the offspring of a sage. They held no power nor influence in Mecca. The holy sanctuary which also contains the Cubicle monument was totally under the supervision of the Azdites. Only then, Quay bin Kilab which is the fifth grandfather of Muhammad s.a.w unites the offspring of Quraish. They build up their strength and chasing the Khuza'as out from the holy sanctuary. He snatched the key of the Cubicle from Abu Ghabsham who was his son in-law. Since then, he became the Chief of Mecca and the high priest there. The rights flowing then to his offspring and so on until the period of Muhammad s.a.w lifetime.

Half an hour before the evening service. I am off for the mosque and will continue later only by His will... Thank you for viewing : )

Quran Memorization: Du'as

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

Last time I had put up the meaning of the du'a or supplication before we memorize the Quran. I am trying to structure the literature so I could check them again when I am transmitting the teachings to other brothers and sisters "only" when they ask for assistance.

We recite supplications and trying to get His attention to us each time before we memorize the Quran. So, I am sharing it here in Arabic because the code of communication with Him lies behind the words within the supplications and the Quran itself. Du'a is not translated into Malay language but in Sanskrit we can translate the word with śrū or in Malay, which means səru that comes from the same word of Sanskrit...

Before You Begin

Please recite أم الكتاب الفاتحة
Recite

Dear our Lord, open up for us Your wisdom. And gather upon us from Your treasure of Mercy. O the Most Merciful the Most Compassionate.

أللهم نورنا بكتابك بصري واشرح به صدري واستعمل به بدني وأطلق به لساني وقوى به جنابي وأسرع به فهمي وبحولك وقوتك يا أرحم الراحمين

Dear our Lord, enlight my chest with Your scripture and explains me about everything around me with it and use it as a shield for my body and make my tongue fluent with it and strengthen my sides with it and make me understand things immediately with it and with You surrounding me and with Your strength protecting me, o the Most Mercy Compassionate One!

إنا نحن نزلنا ذكرى وإنا له لحافظون سورة الحجر٩:١٤ ٧ مرات

Indeed We, without doubt, sent down the Message and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).

So, you can memorize verses or the suras that you choose to memorize. You can use few different methods and maybe take time like half an hour everyday without specifying the time for memorization. It could be anytime but you just allocate half an hour for that purpose. So, it would be very flexible and you still practicing your memorization although you are doing other works.

Before You Close

صدق الله العظيم وبلغ رسوله الكريم تنزيل من رب العالمين ربنا آمنا بما أنزلتَ واتبعناالرسولَ فاكتبنا مع الشاهدينَ

True is the God the Great and His noble messenger (prophet Muhammad s.a.w) already had delivered everything which is revealed from the Lord of the universe. Our Lord, we believe in whatever (revelation) that You had revealed and we follow the example of the messenger thus write for us please, that we would be among those who bear the witness (that You are the God the Highest and prophet Muhammad s.a.w is Your appointed messenger)!

My Words

My translation is very loose because I understand the prayer and I can use them within applied situation. Please avoid writing them down, copying them and pasting it elsewhere or printing them down. I am very orthodox when it comes to memorization and veneration of the Quran! If you do not believe them then please skip this post. I am just sharing this for believers but I have no audio to transmit the sound...

Job Interview: Receptionist

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

Thanking the Lord of universe for His amazing grace upon us. I just returned from the mosque up there and today is a great day in a weekend, Friday... Yeayy!! I am so happy for Friday because it is the day mentioned in the prophecy on eschatology that the universe will be destructed for the "Kingdom" to come. The first fruit of this is the death and decays that we could see around us.

I think I had enough trying with the hotel industry. Because they do not need an educated person and while I actually trying to apply for jobs. I do not intend to be there for eternity because I only need a tool to move within my personal mission and I cannot beg for fund because it is illegal, haram though I am doing it in the way of "Ibn Sabil". I do not care about worldly fame nor luxurious life. I do not want that because I know they are not eternal. The way to trample eternal death is through His merciful and compassionate Love and Pleasure. I think I am going to be honest to my mother. I am a da'ie and once I get to return to our ancestral lineage, I wanted their name to be cleaned and dedicating my life to be devoted and transferring meritorious deeds for them. I wanted those related to our "family" who were strayed from the "Path" to return and together receiving salvation. I realize that many face troubles like me but they cannot define or determine it as a call from Him because they are... alone.

Interview

By the way, regarding the job interview in Shangrila yesterday. I just received the same feedback like the first time I went in the Evelyn Hotel chain in our area. In the beginning I would just applying for operational jobs such as steward (dish-washer), laundry, bell-boy and stuffs. Why am I applying for that and not for executives position? Because I am a new person trying to explore the hotel industry and I understood that we cannot simply go to higher position without an entry level. Or else people would question us again with your rather limited experience and not related education how could you right away being an executive? I do not want to tell lies by giving a resume with my previous educational experience being erased because I know that people would ask me what are you doing in the time gap in which I went for further studies. That would be a long story so I just state everything in the resume and the form as honest as I can as the interviewer could check my background without being judgmental. People cannot dig everything about us only in one day.

The Human Resource lady was quite sexy, haha. I could see that she is a Sabahan based from her name and the crucifix at her neck. She wears skimpy dress and she looks more like a model rather than a Human Resource manager. Then I also encountered the same question being posed to me when I went for the interview in Evelyn Hotel around May 2013, "Are you nervous?" Of course I am nervous because that place is still new for me and I am in front of a sexy beautiful lady. I mean nothing wrong with that but I just feel uncomfortable with too many personal questions being asked and obviously you can see that I am nervous and why were you still asking that? I would rather being asked about my previous experience. Usually they would give us "problem solving" questions and we have to give a situation how we solve that while we were in our previous job. Basically I have no bad experience with my previous employers at all because I love the job. I just have the problem with people around because I am not a "show-off" person. I do not like to show-off nor flattering myself because that is not my "nature" but that lady told me that it seems like I am trying to impress her and showing-off my qualifications. I nearly go for "Buddhist" monk ordination as according to "Ārayaka" tradition when I followed Theravada school of Buddhism when I was a young man and tell us what kind of person is a Buddhist monk and what are their disciplines?? They are known as bhikkhus or ascetics who trained themselves for right concentration and liberating mind from psychological impacts of the illusion in the environment. Fortunately my mother took me home or else right now I am somewhere perhaps in the thick forest meditating alone with wild animals and "ghosts"! I do not simply get the knowledge about "Pallava" holy script and Sanskrit-Pali from no where. There was someone who taught me and later I began to search it after I get close to resources...

So, my answer to the lady. I am not trying to prove anything or impressing anyone. That is never my intention. I just need an immediate job because I am totally stuck right now. I only have RM80 in my CIMB account without any transportation like car or even motorcycle that would enable me to travel far to other region. I saved some RM500 in other account and that is only for emergency. My mother had deposited RM7000 something in my Tabung Haji but that is not for me! That is for pilgrimage because she wanted to repair her worship and she needs a maram with her. I applied for steward job and she offered me a receptionist. I do not even care about the position. I just need some earnings to move on to the next stage, that is all.

I tried to apply in the Isma'ili Shi'a Institute as the representative of Fatimid Empire after the al-Azhar University but that institute is too far. It is in the United Kingdom. I also tried for Umm al-Qura University and our government's training itself for Quranic memorization and training to be a proper ordained da'ie according to our law but my age is already above 25 years old. I studied secular studies not for "worldly" life but simply to be a tool for the "Path" and transmitting peace and mercy. I did all of these just after I had the instinct to return to "Islam" when I was 17 years old just few month before my mother brought me to Holy Mecca for pilgrimage during the high holidays.

Then, I was interviewed for the second time by a senior front office assistant and He suggested me to apply for KL Shangrila too if I am interested to join the hotel chain. I guess he is a Chinese national perhaps from HK autonomous territory or Macao and he asked me about my Chinese proficiency. Usually the simple question being asked by Chinese people all over the world, "ui jiang zhungwen ma?" Can you speak in Chinese (written and spoken)? Also about accented Chinese whether I can understand them? Then he talks about Penang and I believe he was from there too. I never saw any HK student nor those from Macao in the Universiti Sains Malaysia before because I only know some of those students from Northern and Western China such as from Hebei, Hunan, Gansu and Xinjiang (Eastern Turkestan) be they undergraduate students or post-graduate students.

I think that maybe he looks at my Chinese language proficiency too but I am not sure whether they are going to offer me the job or not. I do not think I will accept that job even if they offer me because of that lady who first interviewed me had spoiled my mood by saying that university graduates are arrogant and will jump of here and there. And I saw that there are "wine" bottles down there and I am in the vow of setting myself consecrated for Him which makes me feel uncomfortable in the surrounding related to those things that could lead to the "distortion of mind" although I am not directly involved with those things since I never leave behind our ancient sages' traditions (Torah; Bamidvar 6:8). I am already 27 years old which makes me mature enough to properly think like an adult. Post-graduate students usually would watch out whatever they are thinking before throwing them out as words because they have to argue with lecturers and panels to get through with their thesis... It was not an easy task and I have got no payment for that at all! I even paid for the lecturers to train me in our semester fees. My mother and father sponsored me different to when I was an undergraduate where I made a loan with the government. I am not an undergraduate student nor a high school graduate no more. I am not simply trying to get a job because I wanted to enjoy my life and for a living but I wanted it to be more than that.  I wanted to bring the offerings to Him which is, a heart.

What else we could try to find other jobs. I am not giving up. I will never give up!!! In Him only we trust, He is the One who bestows us sustenance. I am still memorizing the Quran by our national standard and by using the standard proposed by the Dār al-Quran because I had analyzed that they have a good standard for the Quranic memorization and I will integrate their method and standard in my practices. We sacrifice our selves for Him and for other souls may everyone attain salvation in this very life and the hereafter, inshā-Allah.....

Indeed the God the Highest and angels recite the alawat upon the noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w. O, ye faithful servants recite the alawat upon the noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w and pray for his soul with good words.

In the Name of the God

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

I start everything with Your Name...
I end everything with Your Name....

At 15:00 today I have an interview for front office job in a hotel. I really hate to do this but I have no choice. I have to settle my debt with the government loan and getting a transport for myself. I still have another interview tomorrow also for front office job. There are many jobs but not the job which is suitable to our inclinations of our "self".  I do not know how else I could contribute for the betterment of the nations. I mean not only for Muslims but also for other brethren though they are non-Muslims because all of you are the nations in the period of Muhammad s.a.w. The period of the end of the cycle...

I need to bring my Quran for memorization everywhere I am and renewing my wudhu' all the time and hope He forgives me for bringing the copies into "worldly" affairs since I cannot bring people inside the "Path" if I am not memorizing or practicing the Quran in its maximum. I am sinful all the times... Let's see if I could also find a job as a guard in mosques. Or maybe a cleaner for a mosque... I do not really care about money. I care about my "faith" and I hate it that people around do not understand this but insist that everyone is the same like them : (

Muharram Job Interviews

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

Today 23 Muharram 1345 H I just received two calls from different hotels in our area. I tried to apply for a job this morning and I have got a call for a front office job just after an hour I perform the Ḍhuha optional service, haha. I did not recite any specific prayer wishing for any job but I just ask Him to help me leading my life and help me with my mission for Him.

I sent an email to the Pullman Hotel for a front office position this morning. And the Human Resource called me and giving me an email about detail which I should fill in the four pages form. Also a copy of identity card and I have an interview at 15:00 on this Friday. I have to be there 10-15 minutes before the interview.

Then, few hours later. I received another call from Shangrila Hotel. I thought that they already had forgotten my application for steward job. The lady who called me asked whether I am familiar or whether I understand the job specification? I just explained to her that I have no experience with the job but I know that it is a job in the kitchen. My acquaintance, Mr. Azrul already had told me about the job while he is also a graduate cleaner in a hotel in Damansara. The lady then offered me a job as a receptionist and arranging an interview for me tomorrow Thursday at 15:00!!

I just planned to leave the house and buying a ticket for Kangar and later jumping to Langkawi for hotel jobs because I thought that I would have to migrate if I cannot flourish in our neighborhood here, haha. But suddenly the calls hitting my phone. My mother was actually afraid that I would leave her alone because I suddenly cleaned my room and folding all stuffs in this little room. But that is not my real intention to leave her alone. I just wanted to establish myself before I could "save" the others namely my parents. I always think about them and I love them. I do not want them to be neglected in the future especially girls at our house are not as typical as people might think. They are modern women who devote themselves for career and also their husbands' family. My parents are fortunate as compared to those who have no son at all. Imam Ja'afar al-Sadiq r.a mentioned that, "Daughters are mercy compassionate of the parents and when they are well-educated by parents thus parents will be rewarded with meritorious deeds. Sons are grace of the God the Highest. They will help the parents when they are well-educated (with religious teachings)".

I checked the range of salary for entry level for those two positions: front office assistant and receptionist. The range is from RM 1500-1650. So funny that I always have to begin from zero when I leave my previous position after I worked so hard. Last time, my salary was RM2100. But I can do nothing because I am entering another boundary which is different from the other. Well, just take the challenge and off we go followed with tawakkal (dependency only) to Him.

This is a bit on our struggle to find job and establishing ourselves dear brothers and sisters out there. I have no time to blame anyone on my misfortune. But I have to work very hard. I tell you something that we cannot think like our countries are new countries like Timor Leste anymore. Perhaps Timor Leste would also experience what we are currently experiencing when their country reaching a certain stage of development. There would be many universities and colleges and people are racing among each other to be labor or slaves to capitalists (slaves of the world).

I will share with everyone the outcome if I am free for that, inshā Allah. I have to do some researches for those sudden interviews. This is actually for those who are still looking at which direction to go with their life. I am sharing this specially with you : ) Wish I could get any one of those jobs and be strong in the future. Praise Him in all circumstances never forget Him who controls everything in the universe...

Takfir: Summary of al-Tahawi

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

The explanation of al-Tahawi Creed with regard to the crimes and accusation of infidelity is summarized by Wan Zahid Wan Teh (1987) in his treatise Takfir Problem in Muslim Society. In evidences of both primary and secondary sources of our "Path", namely the Quran and the Traditions, there are terms such as kufr, shirk, unfaithful and so on for crimes and vices such as killing a life, refusing to execute the commandment of the God the Highest by a Muslim, breaking promises and treaties, accusing another Muslim as an infidel, lying, drinking alcohol, stealing, skipping obligatory prayer services, soothsaying, swearing with other Names other than Him, defecating one's lineage and insulting his ancestors, lamenting over the dead and the list goes on like what has been clearly mentioned in evidences of the sources.

Whether these terms such as kufr, shirk and so on as such being used in evidences of the Quranic and prophetic tradition sources related to those crimes means that the criminal is an apostate (murtad)? If so then almost all of Muslim nations are liable to apostasy and so, are infidels. Because whoever among Muslims are infallible? Whoever among Muslims never commits those vices and sinful acts mentioned as in examples such as breaking promises, breaking treaties, lying, cheating, debating or arguing until they are deflected from the track of the Truth? Only noble prophets and messengers appointed by the God the Highest are infallible but not public Muslims nor Muslim clerics.

This kind of ideology is contradictory to the consensus of Sunnah Muslim clerics in their opinions, that a Muslim who commits major sins is not an infidel. But he is still a Muslim. Their opinions were based from clear evidences of the Quran and Prophetic Traditions who never assume that sinners who commit major sins or vices as apostates or infidels (Wan Teh, 1987). They were punished only according to their crimes and never excommunicated from the congregation of the faithful Muslims.

The noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w himself prohibits companions from cursing or teasing a person who had few times being imposed with restrictions (in form of lashes) at the court because he took alcohol. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w says, "Do not be assistants of Satan by severing more your brethren!" (al-Ghazali in al-Ihya 3:121).

Noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w still calls the person prosecuted as a brother to others although he keeps drinking and prohibited others from abusing him because of his crimes. And we can see how open the heart of the noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w toward a brother or a sister although he or she commits a "major" crime. Isn't this a good lesson in propagating Islam and bringing everyone to common words rather than impatiently throwing out abusive terms such as ṭāġūt, pharaoh and so on to other congregations or groups while everyone are Muslims?

Sealed with prayers for mercy, peace, and love, amin!

Takfir: Consensus of Sunnah Clerics

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

All of Sunnah Muslim clerics unanimously agree that a Muslim who commits major sins is still a Muslim and he is still in the fold of Islam. This is contradictory to the view of the Kharijites. This is on the ground that if a Muslim who commits major sins being accused as an infidel with the connotation that he is not a Muslim no more, then it also means that every Muslim who commits major sins is an apostate and he should be executed or killed according to traditional principle as what we see happened everywhere in Muslim area in the Middle East, in Africa, in South Asia and in some places in South East Asia.

The implication for this are that, the beneficiary of the killed person will lost the space for forgiveness and he only has the right for Qisas (an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth) on those who executed him and that there would be no limitation principles for crimes such as stealing, adultery and drinking alcohol. So, this opinion is obviously cancelled and not effective in Islamic view without having to bring up any evidence from primary and secondary sources no more (Wan Teh, 1987).

The Sunnah tradition maintains the view that a Muslim who commits a major sin is not an infidel and is still a Muslim. He is not a subject of eternal torments of the hereafter. This is also different to the view of Mu'tazilites that a Muslim who commits major sins would eternally being tormented in bitterness in the hereafter.

The Mu'tazilites' view on this matter is not suitable with the notion that a sinner who commits major sin is a Muslim as such it is mentioned in the Glorious Quran which means, "O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered; the for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment" (Surah al-Baqarah 2:178).

The verse does not excommunicate a murderer of a Muslim from Islamic faith, but he is mentioned as a brother to the beneficiaries of the victim as an example. And the verse for sure is referring to brothers in "Islam". Evidences from the Quran, the traditions and consensus of clerics showing that adulterers, thieves, and those who falsely accuse the other with adultery were not killed but being punished according to restrictions or limitation principles. These people were not judged as apostates nor infidels (Explanation of al-Tahawi Creed; p.g 301). For restrictions or limitation principles in punishment, please make sure that everyone check the term first before throwing out words because it is a technical term in our law and the law is a distinct field of its own. Just like the British Common Law or Continental European Law, we also have our technical terms and principles. I am not sure how the Mullas there were educated but I studied the basic law from our school of jurisprudence basically the Shafi'ie school since it is the major school practiced here. Maybe there was a lack of communication among jurisprudence practitioners and judges so we face the problem like we are facing today in certain area such as in Middle East or in South Asia.

Honor to the Devotees

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

The God the Highest honors those who devote themselves to Him in charity and chastity simply to please Him with few honors....

Quran

He says which means, "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer; We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward (in the hereafter) according to the best of what they used to do" (Surah al-Nahl 16:97).

"The God promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession (to authority) upon the earth just as He granted it those before them and that He will surely establish for them (therein) their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, (for) they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that; then those are the defiantly disobedient" (Surah al-Nur 24:55).

"Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds; indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds."(Surah al-Kahfi 18:30).

"Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place". (Surah al-Kahfi 18:31).

"On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, will (the God) the Most Gracious bestow love" (Surah Maryam 19:96).

Ibnu Abbas r.a in interpreting the verse mentions that, the God the Highest loves a believer and He also makes the heart of other believers to incline to this believer.

Hadith Qudsi

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w communicating the message of the God the Highest, "Whoever hates my beloved ones, thus I am declaring war with them. Nobody could approach Me except with whatever that I love from which I have obliged upon him. And a servant who never stops to approach me through optional worships and services until I am in love with him, and if I love him the I am in his hearing, I am in his view, I am in his hands which he uses to touch things, and I am at his feet where he uses to walk. If he begs me thus I will grant him whatever he wishes, and if he beg for protection then I am His protector (Wilayat)".

This is how the God the Highest bestow His love upon a person until his acts in reaching His pleasure and his devotion to Him are brought under His protection. He bestows these on those who perform their obligation and also optional devotions in order to be close to Him.

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w says, "If one of my servants approaching Me within a span of fingers, then I am close to him a unit. If he approaches Me in a unit, and I am closer to him in two arms distance. If he comes to me walking, and I am swiftly approaching him".

It is clear from the hadith explanations, that the God the Highest is close with His grace and bestowal or mercy upon those who try to be closer to Him through services, obedience, and worship.

In other hadith, prophet Muhammad s.a.w says, "The God the Highest prepares for His righteous servants with graces which no eyes have ever seen, no ears have ever heard of and cannot be imagined by human mind".

Quotes

Psalter

The Psalter (Zabūr) mentions, "O sons of Adam, be obedient to Me and I will fill your heart with richness, and I will fill your hands with sustenance and your body will be filled with health. And He commands the world, "O world, whoever among my servants serves Me thus you must be his servant! But he who serves you thus will become your slave!"

This quote is among the quotes which echoes within my mind when I am also trying to establish my life dear brothers and sisters. I do not want to be the slave of the world and many people around looking at me like a stupid crazy man though they are my own family members. They never come across this valuable teachings and I am so sad for them.... Because they are my family and not others. We have to save our own family first before people out there. We can only pray to the God the Highest because we are powerless. The "power" is only within His side as He is the Lord of Powers... Lā awla wa lā quwwata illā billahil 'aliyyil 'adhīm...

Bishr al-Hars

Righteous people usually will leave by bringing the world and hereafter together with them.....

Yahya bin Mu'adh

Slaves of the world enslave themselves to the material world. Those who serve the "hereafter" are never slaves of anything in the world. They are free people.

Abdullah Alawi al-Hadad

Dear brethren, if you wanted to get a glorious success, honor and greatness which will never perish thus obey the God the Highest and be devoted only for Him. Since He places everything in the obedience and obeisance to Him. And He bestows honor upon those who are committed in devotion and obedience to Him.

It has been proven that He bestows honor upon those who obey Him, by releasing them from enslavement of worldly desires and He purifies their heart from impurities which make a human inclines toward the pleasure of this temporal world. The God the Highest performs many miracles at their hands, and put upon them honor which never fails to attract other sentient beings, and invisible news that they had told the people, blessings pouring upon them and their wishes come true. And because of that, people around could also get the benefit and enlightened with the lights transmitted through them. Public standing behind them and ministering the path that they had embarked in their prayers to the God the Highest to banish sadness and sorrow. Public will ask them who is sincere and obedient to the God the Highest to pray to Him for the removal of sufferings befall upon them and the God the Highest is looking at their "heart".

The God the Highest even bestows them with His lights and filling them with pure gnosis to Him, love, devotion and tranquility being alone and reciting His Names until they feel restless when they are among His creatures. And the God the Highest provides for them eternal happiness full with grace in the paradise and He promises them that they will have the chance to see the Greatness of His Essence!

Behind all of these, His pleasure is actually the greatest gift for those who are fortunate. "That is the greatest fortune upon one" and "for this, one has to practice diligently and being in devotion in obedience to Him" (Surah al-Tawbah 9:72; Surah al-Saffat 37:61).

My Mind

Thus, dear brothers and sisters. Never ask for karamat for yourself because you wanted to be a famous person or having large followers!!! That is against the principle of a faithful and devoted servant of the God the Highest. Be in devotion and obedience simply because of His pleasure. Because we are looking for His love and pleasure. That is the greatest gift ever upon a lowly creature like us. I am sorry if I was rude to those brothers who talked about this to me last time. I know what you were talking about but I strictly do not like to talk anything related to this in the public. I tried to call you one by one not to blast you. But because I wanted to explain to you. Maybe you thought that I wanted to debate things with you while I actually hate to listen to debates or engaged in debates. I am not an ego. I would easily apologize if I am doing anything wrong because I am aware that I am an ordinary human-being.

This has nothing to do with mystics or whatever magical things. This is related to seeking love and pleasure from Him. You will not understand anything until something befalls upon you. And I am trying to tell everyone including myself to be careful with our mind, speeches and acts whenever and wherever we are... Observe more rather than talking and shooting words or we will regret ourselves in the "hereafter". Start from the very basic of the "Path"! Allahumma alli 'alā Muhammad wa 'alā āli Muhammad....

Watan

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

I am just lazy to check the other site. So, I would just dump everything here. This patriotic song is from Nigina Amankulava from Tajikistan. The song is about motherland and it is in Persian language. Persian is not only used in Iran but also in Tajikistan which is a Turkic name for Persian people in Central Asia. There is a small pocket of Persian communities in Southwestern and Western China.. The majority of those in Tajikistan are Sunnah Muslims of Hanafi jurisprudence while those in Western China are Isma'ili Shi'a Muslims (Nizari Imami branch).

Watan surudi ishq tu
Zi qalbi man sadā kona
Daro na hāyi mehr tu
Marāzi gham rahā kona
Watan libā-e-zindagi
Watan nabā-e-zindagi

Watan umedu ārzu
Watan safā-e-zindagi

Watan tu jism jān-e-man
Zamīn-e-man zamān-e-man

Tu mādari ya gānayi
Azīz meherbāni man

Watan tu soya bar sara
Tu mehrumo hu akhtara
Surudi mehrate watan
Babahru barhame baram

I guess if you know Urdu, then you can also understand some of the lyric because Urdu also consists words from Dari (Persian), lol. I can understand some too but I just cannot fluently speak in it, haha.

Takfir: Experience and Reviews

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

If we analyze this phenomena which exists in Muslim societies since the early period until today, we could see that the main factor for this is due to confusion in the interpretation of Quranic verses and few hadiths. The result brings up the view that those who commits certain vices are considered as infidel.

Personal Experience

I had encountered this situation at a mosque in our area where suddenly a Saudi man talking to me in Arabic though I replied to him in English. He suddenly complaining to me about there were few people in the mosque as compared to his country. He said that he thought the people here are Muslims but it turns out that they are infidels. Coincidentally, there was a carnival organized like a kilometer from the mosque and there were many people there too.

I was lazy to argue with that kind of blocked mentality person because he said that he cannot easily find mosque at Sunway City where he stayed with his family. The first thing which comes out from my mind is that although he heard that this country is filled with majority Muslim population but what is wrong with researches before he reaches this country or any other place? There are many prayer rooms in this country and it depends also to the area where he stayed. Or he simply come to other country because he wanted to enjoy the leisure with his family instead making his travel a kind of lesson for him and his family? What gives him right to judge the people here? I was in the mosque and I pray simply like others but why was he complaining to me as if he is a holy creature? I never consider this country where I live as an "Islamic" state. Even the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not and never an "Islamic" state but why flatter our selves as if we are so perfect? Nobody is perfect except the God the Highest. I just walked pass him with my elder sister because we do not want to slap his face with our slippers in a mosque, a holy sanctuary where we should not bring thing which is not peaceful. What an insolent Saudi! Just because our holy lands in Hejaz are contained by the border of the Najd Sultanate does not gives them right to judge us! Only the God is the One who has the right! I do not even care if the Gulf states are rich. I only care to those who speak with manner and humble before the God. Even an ignorant among the ignorant could tell whether a person is a nice person or an ego!

Other than that, the carnivals organized by our government also consist prayer rooms. We have prayer rooms and musalla besides mosques in almost everywhere, in shopping complexes, in offices, in library, in the varsity, in restaurants or people will outrage to the government and complain for neglecting the majority's right in religious practices. Before you travel to other countries, make sure you do researches and never think that people are the same with you! This world is not only revolves around you. If you feel that you cannot take the challenge of traveling and trying to impose your view on others then you can find the door and get out! Live and travel only in your own country. I am an Arab myself but I never behave like that to people. Because of their barbaric attitude, even we in the overseas who never live in Arabian Peninsula after being driven out by previous "Islamic" empires have to hear stereotypes about Arab nations like other races are free from flaws such as:
  • Arabs are fanatics of their nation.
  • Cheaters and opportunistic over people's charity.
  • Arabs are respected only because of the noble Quran and because of prophet Muhammad s.a.w was born among the Arabs.
I cannot help but to answer this... What is wrong if we celebrate our root and nationality just like other nations? Everybody is entitled to their ethnicity and identity so people could get to know each other, learn new things from each other and make friends (Surah al-Hujurat 49:13).

The second one is an over-generalization. You can find people like this in almost everywhere as long as you are known as human. There are many forms of "satan" and one of them is "human". Arabs were never angels and never are angels! The Arabs are human-being with the inclination either to goodness or evil just the same like you, the Malays! Just like everyone else. There is no verses in the Quran which say that Arabs or Jews are angels of the God the Highest. Both nations are of "human" race! The sons of Adam.

The third one is the most irritating statement everrr! If you wanted to question this, why not consider to ask the God the Highest why He gives the Quran to Arabs and why He makes Muhammad s.a.w an Arab? It is a speculative statement. You are having a perception out of this and it is because you have heard this from this guy and that lady and they were taught so and so. It is the same like you are questioning the Wisdom of the God the Highest while we cannot even comprehend His Will and actions. Nobody can decide on what race is he going to be born in. Either to be an Arab, a Malay, an English, a Jew, a Brahmin or a Chinese. It is the decision of the God the Highest, His Will. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w has no power to decide over his birth so why people are talking like godless people?

Muhammad s.a.w was not the only Arab prophet but there were also prophet āleh a.s. and prophet Hūd a.s. Both of them were ancient Arabs. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w himself is of mixed ancestry from Ismael a.s as prophet Abraham a.s his father, was from the city of Ur of Sumeria while his mother, Hagar was a captive woman who was brought to Egypt after a battle between a Western country with Egyptian empire. She was a servant in the Hyksos king palace before being given as a maid to Abraham a.s. There are many prophets of the God the Highest who are not mentioned in the scripture because they only teach their tribes and nations in their region. Why not looking at everyone as human first? Rather than talking about this race and that race when it is about negative things? Why not checking what prophet Muhammad s.a.w said during the final sermon in 'Arafah? Does that mean all Arabs are "satans" if an Arab is behaving like a "satan"? The same thing should also go to other nations. I regret that I still have to hear this racist remark. The basis of whatever struggle of a person, should be based on his "morality", the content of his character and not his racial background. The Justice of the God prevails over nationality!

Clearing the Issue

In clearing the issue, we found sources from the "Explanation of the Creed of al-Tahawi" which is popular among the four recognized schools of jurisprudence practiced by the majority of Muslim nations and the quote by al-Subki:
"Al-Tahawi while explaining the traditional creed about the takfir issue says that, 'We (the people of tradition) should never accuse others from the member of the quibla (Muslims) because of the vices committed without any confidence that they are legal (according to Quran and prophetic traditions); however we never deny that sins and vices could bring disadvantages to the "faithfuls".
While explaining the quotes from al-Tahawi, al-Subki says, "But there is a question with regard to the speech of al-Tahawi, where the law has also nominated certain sins as not faithful". For example, the saying of the God the Highest recorded in the Glorious Quran in Surah al-Maidah 5:44 which means...
Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted (to the God) judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of the God, and they were witnesses thereto. So, do not fear the human-being but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what the God has revealed, then it is those who are the disbelievers.
And the saying of the noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w regarding a Muslim with a Muslim, "To curse a believer is evil, and to wage war with him is infidelity" (Bukhari Compilation).

"Do not be disbelievers after I am gone in which some of you are decapitate the head of the other" (killing and waging war among Muslims); When a believer saying to one another, "O infidel! Thus the word cast to the other shall return to him who cast it out".

Four matters which will turn a person into a full hypocrite if he possess them all and he will possess a hypocrite trait if he possess one of these until he entirely leaves them which are...

1. When talking he tells lies.
2. When he made a promise and he breaks it.
3. When he is in a contract, pact and treaty and he breaks these.
4. When he argue, he goes over the board.

These which our Muslim brethren always accuse on our Jewish brethren in general are not really the accusation of the Quran on the whole Jewish nation! But these are the human trait which arise in human "self". It does not matter whether you are a German, an Arab or a Jewish. If you possess all of these traits, then you are a full hypocrite! If you possess one of these traits, then you still are hypocrites. And I am against people who treat my Jewish brethren or anyone with discrimination or racism because I know how does it feels when we live in foreign land while we are aware about our root and ancestry! I view everyone around me as human-being if he is a human-being when he exhibits negative acts according to the sermon of noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w in the Arafat Hill. I never view others with the notion such as Chinese, Indian, or anything related to their "nationality" because it will lead us to racial supremacy which is divisive and abusive. It is egoism. You cannot be a noble person if you never contemplate from within yourself. Never follow the example of the Western imperial period's orientalists if we do not like to be treated so. The ancient Indian philosophies had taught me a lot and that is why many of our people were sent there to see and to learn from around though most Indians today also leaving behind the wisdom of their honorable ancient sages.

"A person who commits adultery only when he is not faithful to the teachings; A thief only steals when he is not faithful to the teachings; A person only drinks alcohol when he is not faithful to the teachings; and leaving the prayer services makes a person an infidel".

This statement refers to certain times when a person is forgetting the teachings of the noble prophets and messengers of the God the Highest. However, in the end it separates the boundary between a believer and a disbeliever with the prayer services. And how we understood the prayer services is through the Sharia (the Divine Path). In this matter, I do not want and never force non-Muslim to come to Islam. It is never my intention but this is an explanation to myself and Muslim brethren only! I do not really care about whatever faith people wanted to have. That is their choice as long as it does not go against the law , trampling humanity and mercy-compassionate principle because this is the doctrine that I believe mentioned in the the Name of the God the Highest.

"Whoever comes to the soothsayer and believing in him or having genital relation through the back of his wife thus he goes against the teachings of the noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w.; Whoever swears with the names (earthly creatures considered as divine) other than the God the Highest, thus he is an infidel; Two things which make my nations becoming an infidel are, 'cursing the lineage of a person and wailing the death of a person".

A bit on our culture, Arabs love to wail over the death. And just relate it to the statement up there. Because we live in the non-Arab environment so we do not wail so much on the death but only in sadness. Many Malay friends always saying that Indian (Tamils in our country) wailing at the death of their beloved ones. But actually Arabs are also the same. So, these are actually the statements for non-faithful, infidels, and others pertaining the takfir issues. We would see the majority Sunnah Muslim clerics opinion over the accusation of infidelity issue.

Tu Kya Jāne

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

You can relate this poem to your life... It happens but just in different settings : )

Tu bin dil bin jazbāt, Allah jāne.
Mere dil ki bāt, tu kya jāne.
Tu bin dil bin jazbat, Allah jāne.

Bhūli nahi abhi chand ni rātein
Bhūli nahi teri pyaari bātein
Tujh bin ye din nahi bhāte
Kya batayen hum??

Wohi khile khile sapne salone
Bas gaye hain jo kone kone
Bann gaye jazbāt khilone
Dil tadpe par tu kya jāne?

Poyo

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

Now I know why I cannot mingle with little kids no more. Because I am an older guy, haha. I discussed things with my colleague, Amir (22 Nov 2013;16:06). The only survival colleague in my contact list. I somehow agree with what he says, haha...
Dia tumpang kereta aku pi mari. Best juga. Jenis happy go lucky, sempoi. Macam mana aku duk merungut stress pun dia sama pandangan dengan aku. Jadi, aku tak lah rasa alone in hell sebab dia pun share benda yang sama dengan aku.
Last time, I also had this experience with this young little guy known as Nasrol from Ipoh, Perak. I guess he was born in 1990 which makes him at the level of my younger sister. What I could see from this guy is that he is friendly and he could mingle with others in term of conversation but he is also a "poyo" guy. He only gets an interview letter where he applied for police constable position but he talked as if he had got the job, lol. I do not feel like it is something which is bad or good. But it is normal for little guys who are about to embark this journey of life, haha.

I am not sure when does this word "poyo" come into existence but I guess it was already in usage while I was schooled in Selangor state around 2000. It is an adjective in Southern Malay slang which refers to a person who is not original, a little annoying or silly. Or referring to someone who behaves a little bit out of the norm, who thinks that he is cool and talking out of the fact of life. I guess it is close to "lame-ass" in American English, lol...

While I was in the varsity, there were many of these "lame-asses" talking about things related to their future-plan such as setting up business particularly cyber cafes, food and beverages, and stuffs. The same thing also happened when I was in self-introduction session with brother Muhammad Firdaus during the early phase of my postgraduate time. Suddenly, a guy who was a companion of Muhammad Firdaus interrupted from no where and talking about their future plan after their graduation. I just said my goodbye when I listen to that kind of thing because I had gone through that situation before. I had been in the university as an undergraduate 3 years earlier than them, lol.. And I am going through the same situation in which we call it in technical term as sasara for whatever that happens in the cycle.

I mean future plan is good but if you talk about that almost everywhere, then people would be annoyed with it especially we do not know the way people think. Human have different kind of thoughts and inclinations. There are also many types of "poyos" or "lame-asses". Sometimes, you could also be an artist or a popular figure because of your "poyoness". It does not have to be all the time but maybe sometimes, lol. Politicians could also be "poyos", haha. Preachers whether they are Muslims or Christians the same could also be "poyos", bitches and bastards. Atheists, Liberalists, Realists and others too. No one is spared from that at certain time.

I maybe should be a psychologists but I did not do the course in higher educational institution which would lead me to a career but rather learning from life. Life is a university itself, haha...

Takfir: Historical Observation

Assalaamu'alaikum wa rahmatullah

A very good morning and a peaceful Friday which is a great weekend for us.  I still have few references to compile as a post here. I am not sure whether this could be known as an article because I am not clear about the standard myself, haha. I am planning to move to Bangkok but I do not tell anyone about my plan. It is a Buddhist country but I wanted to go to the United Nation office there rather than the one in Kuala Lumpur and getting the access to accession there. It must be done in stages because I cannot just go there out of blue while I know no one. Our ancestors were also like this before some of our branches becoming king or royal associates in the Malay countries. They were alone or together with their family members.

In my case, I am now alone because my beloved fort which is my father is paralyzed. I am stuck with my responsibility to my father and to be my mother's companion since the noble prophet Muhammad s.a.w mentions that a particular person must take care his own family member first before talking about preaching to others. Moreover, we are Hashemites and we must love our fathers and mothers more than we love our selves. I am not studying in political science simply because I did not know what to do after I graduated from the undergraduate studies. I am not studying in the post-graduate to live a luxurious life or to get an executive position like others think.  I am not interested at all because I am aware that this life is just a "dream" while the fact is behind the veil of the "hereafter".

But rather I am doing anything with the basic ground that I wanted to set this beautiful name well-beloved by the creatures of heavens and earth, Muhammad s.a.w in its original connotation and context. As the mercy of the Lord to the universe and the holder of the scepter of tranquility. This was my prayer just after I decided to become a follower of prophet Muhammad s.a.w in its true meaning and dedication. Some people might think that it is crazy but I already had tried it before I faced conflicts with my sisters because they cannot understand my thought. They had long called me a lunatic and my third sister even had told me to take valium that made me quit from talking with them or other people no more. I never blame them. Human are not perfect and we are also the same mortal human like them so we see them as our reflection.

Historical Obesrvation

Historically speaking, the issue is nothing new to the nations. It happened since the first century of Hegira in the period of Othman al-'Affan r.a where there were extremists who accused him as an infidel and argued with the evidence from surah al-Maidah 5:44 which means...
Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted to the God judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that which they were entrusted of the Scripture of the God, and they were witnesses thereto. So, do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what the God has revealed, then it is those who are the disbelievers.
In the period of Ali r.a, the Kharijites had put this accusation on him due to that he accepts the peace treaty. Others such as Mu'awiya r.a and two peace makers, Abu Musa al-Ash'ari and Amr bin al-'As were also accused as infidels. Whoever that accepts the peace treaty were also regarded as infidels.

While in Egypt of 1950s, a great tyranny which was committed by the Gamal Abd el-Nasser regime on the Muslim Brotherhood had sparked extreme view among the members of the Brotherhood and it goes to the stage where those members begin to stamp the regime which operates the government as infidels and those who were not opposing them too were accused as infidels.

This ideology is not in accordance to the leaders of Brotherhood view as they adhered to the moderate creed of Ahl Sunnah just like the majority of Muslims around the world. The view of the Ahl Sunnah is that any Muslim who commits vices or even grave sins are not deemed as infidels. The Brotherhood leaders though were imprisoned but had tried hard to set the view of its members right. Among them was the second General Guide of the Brotherhood, Hassan Ismael el-Hoaibi. He completed the manuscript of Nanu Du'at la Qudat (We are the Callers, not the Judges) which was published after his death in 1977. Many people who analyzed it argued that it is a refutation to Sayyid Qutb's manifesto known as the Ma'alem fi al-Tareq (Milestone along the Way) and his argument of takfir, or the practice of declaring another Muslim as a non-believer. Barbara Zollner in her "Muslim Brotherhood" suggests that Sayyid Qutb was not a direct target of the text, but rather that el-Hoaibi wanted to pose respond to a radical marginal group withing the Brotherhood movement.

One of the main objectives of the text is to define Muslims and disbelievers. Sayyid Qutb had previously argued that so-called "Muslim" governments were actually non-Islamic ignorant that must be abolished by "physical power and war struggle". However, el-Hoaibi responds even though a Muslim may have committed a sin or crime that may require punishment, but that person cannot be taken as an apostate. Judgement over Muslims should be left to the God alone. El-Hodaibi also questions whether the testimonies of faith in Islam is sufficient to be a Muslim, or whether there are requirements to act beyond this profession of faith. He argues that only those who actively engage in Islamic cause can be called Muslim.

The efforts of el-Hoaibi with regard to the questions has produced a valuable study on the creed of the Ahl Sunnah creed. The translation of this book in Malay was published by Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) in 1985. The translation was made by alahuddin 'Abdullah. However, this test of takfir cannot be completely eliminated because there are still a minority of people who are tightly attached to their perception and view.

This kind of attachment has been discussed by ancient sage for example, Siddhartha Gautama of Kapilavastu in the contemplation of Five Components about the origins of conflicts in the world. I was trained with this contemplation in the "Path of Self Purification" when I was a young teenage boy. It says like in the method of concentration discourses that..
"Views and perceptions of the eyes, views and perceptions of the sounds, views and perceptions of the smells, view and perceptions of the tastes and feeling, views and perceptions about tangible things, views and perceptions about intangible things in the thought or mind in this temporal world which are in accordance to our "self" and "pleasing" to ourselves, thus there will be the rising of the volition and basis for desires in "self". This, dear ascetics are known as the Noble Truth of the Suffering in the world. These, dear ascetics, are known as the Noble Truth of the Stress in the world. These, dear ascetics, are known as the Noble Truth of the Anxiety in this world. These, dear ascetics are the Noble Truth of the Unsatisfactoriness in the world. This, dear ascetics are known as the Noble Truth of the Conflicts in the world".
In our country as an example, this issue was traced as happening in the 1960's when certain religious teachers from the Kelantan state were involved in this practice in the context of supporting the political struggle related to Islam. The writer such as Wan Zahid Wan Teh reported that he saw this situation himself and witnessing the events where it took place since one of the involved religious teacher was his school teacher while he studied in Kelantan.

Before this issue is further discussed, there is a question which needs to be solved by everyone especially fellow Muslim brethren. Whether this takfir issue which is prevalent in Muslim societies worldwide with all of its dividing implications is a fact in existence or something which is made up? Even for some people, this question is merely an explanation about the boundaries of faith and the opposite. No more no less.

View on Issue

In agreement with Wan Zahidi (1987), I personally think that this issue and all of the impacts risen from the issue is a fact! It exists and is not made up by any party nor simply an expression of principles about the faith and infidelity.

This conclusion is taken based on the experience and based on the observation on news and historical analysis of those people whom we could depend on because of their firm reputation, trustworthiness, morality and according to Islamic methods. Please refer to technical terms such as 'alimiqah, and wara'. Also check the method of Malik bin Anas and 'Ali bin al-Madini for reporters of narrations, news and reports.

It would be unreasonable to say that, this inquiry is merely an expression of the principle since the expression about the boundaries of faith and infidelity are there stated in our old religious literature either in Classical Malay or in Arabic itself. They were taught to people by teachers since before the existence of political parties like today; however it never raises any conflicts like in our societies today.

As to say, we should honestly deal with this issue and being responsible without trying to escape instead facing this fact without being influenced by any sentiment which could bend our intellect tendency and consideration to any direction. The same thing also about Muslim civil wars which leads to our schism such as the Battle of Siffin and the Battle of Jamal. We should not run from the facts or passing it to the next phase simply because we are afraid of the consequences which is only in our presumptions.

Everyone especially Islamic scholars should sit at the roundtable discussing matters with "clear mind" instead of talking in the phone in TV programs, recorded programs, or writing in the journal or pamphlets without consulting each other. They should first avoiding egoism in scholarship but rather training themselves to be humble before the God the Highest so the tendency to debate in proving this matter or that matter as wrong or right would cease to happen instead everyone could try to be closer to the Truth or facts. This is the way of our salaf al-saleh (pious predecessors) and the tabi'in (pious followers).

Sealed with prayers for mercy, peace and love, amin!
